Who is This Person: Nathaniel Horn

Hello Everyone,

Hello, I’m Nathaniel Horn, a Chemical Engineering alumnus from the University of New Hampshire. Over the past few years, my engineering journey has been inseparably intertwined with a mission: environmental conservation. Through my work, I’ve been fortunate enough to tackle some of today’s pressing environmental issues, from volunteering on restoration projects to leading initiatives that balance resource utilization and preservation.

When I’m not deep in the engineering trenches, I’m probably out embracing the serenity of nature. The picturesque landscapes of New Hampshire, featuring awe-inspiring mountains like Mt. Cardigan and Washington, serve as my sanctuary. My love for the great outdoors doesn’t stop there; I’ve also explored the wilderness of Maine through various camping trips. Nature is not just a place I visit; it’s where I recharge and find inspiration.

But life isn’t all work and nature walks. When I unlace my hiking boots, I love catching waves along the coast, skating, or diving into diverse projects. These activities fuel my creativity and offer a different lens through which I view the world.

Looking ahead, my ambitions are sky-high—quite literally. I’m keen on teaming up with fellow engineers on projects related to radioactive site restorations. I’m also intrigued by the prospect of contributing to groundbreaking initiatives like those led by SpaceX.

This blog is more than a platform for sharing thoughts; it’s a multifaceted resource designed to foster meaningful interaction and learning. While the cornerstone of this space will always be the insightful dialogues about our symbiotic relationship with nature and our ethical obligations to preserve it, the scope extends much further. I aim to introduce new ideas, from innovative environmental conservation techniques to cutting-edge engineering solutions. It’s also a venue to showcase the practical skills I’ve honed—that can offer utility in academic settings and real-world applications. If you’re a fellow engineer, an aspiring student, or just someone curious about how science can address tangible problems, this blog is designed to provide actionable insights. In addition, I’ll occasionally pull back the curtain on my professional journey, discussing the challenges and successes of projects I’ve undertaken and how these experiences have equipped me with a unique skill set that’s invaluable in the working world. Through this multi-dimensional approach, the blog strives to offer a well-rounded perspective that empowers us all to contribute to a more sustainable and harmonious future.
